I was honored he asked me
It has been a rough 2 days
but so spiritual
I need to write about it
but this will have to do for now
Geri Evans Gaisford
“My mums”
Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, great great grandmother, Geraldine Evans Gaisford peacefully passed from this world into eternal glory Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Geri was born June 7, 1926 in Jackson County, Missouri to Grace Evans. She was married to George M Gaisford on September 28 1956. George passed away on January 26, 1997.
Geri loved to boat. She was an avid canner, saving every jar and bottle to fill with jams, jellies and preserves which she gave away more than she ever kept. She loved to travel and got to visit many places in her Motor home. But her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. Geri’s son, Greg was her greatest treasure and she adored and dedicated her life to him. There was no sacrifice too small or large that she was not willing to make for him or any of her family members. Her legacy includes four daughters and one son, 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 13 great- great grandchildren. Although her health did not permit her to participate in family events these last years, she was originally the instigator of many fishing trips, dinners, birthday parties and holiday events. She worked full time but every minutes after work was spent with family and friends. She always led a Christ like life consisting of love, acceptance, respect and forgiveness. She took care of friends, neighbors, church members and a few strangers just like they were family. She gave her all and made it look so easy.
A special thanks to Jeffrey Kurrus at St Mark’s hospital and his staff, to the Salt Lake Regional Hospital ICU unit, to Dr Brad Waterman, to Rocky Mt eye institute and to Dixie. The love, warmth and wonderful care we received from these dedicated
Professionals made our journey with Geri so much easier
Geri joins her mother, Grace, Her daughter Kathi and her husband George along with many friends and relatives in Heaven. Their great joy in being with her again matches our great sorrow in losing her here on earth. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. Our family has been blessed by such a devoted daughter of God to lead us and guide on our journey here on Earth. Not only did she teach us but always lead by example. May we always honor her memory by “remembering the good times”.
She leaves many loved family members here on Earth, Son Greg Evans, daughters Patricia (Jim) Craner, Sandy (Barry) Morse, and Suzie (Larry) Fullmer. She will be missed by her posterity of 75 grandchildren, great grand children and great great grandchildren. Although not all of them got to say goodbye, Geri waited patiently for her son to arrive so he could say good bye before she left for her next great travel adventure.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at Memorial Estates 5850 South 900 East. A viewing will be held on hour before the funeral. Interment will be held after the funeral at Mountain View Memorial Park 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, it would have been Geri’s wish that a tribute gift be made to the Shiner’s hospital at Fairfax Road at Virginia St. Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Our sincere appreciation to those who would like to make this tribute to Geri.
Mums, I was privileged to have such a great mother who taught me so much. I will love and adore you always……Greg
