Just one more water story

I guess I forgot about this water story. All of the kids think it is a hoot. I did not.
It was Thanksgiving weekend and Matt's 25th birthday so Grandma Sally and Grandpa Brent had invited us down for Thanksgiving dinner
We booked a room at a bed and breakfast in Moroni.
It was really old and Rob and I were assigned a small room above t he kitchen
the windows were painted shut
the heat was on
and the heat from the kitchen made our room around ninety degrees or hotter
I was dying
so I tried to come up with my own cooler
I turned on the cold water in the shower and hoped it would cool down the room
I feel asleep
some how a rag fell on to the drain and plugged it up
so the shower filled with water, then started on to the floor
all while I was asleep
after an undisclosed amount of time
I woke up and found the flooded bathroom
I turned off the water and cleaned the bathroom floor
but I heard noise down stairs and went to investigate
it was raining in the kitchen and the droplet were making all kinds of noise on the pots, pans, dishes, counter tops and floors
I was trying to clean it up but the more I cleaned
the more it rained
I was drenched
The ceiling was bubbled and I finally decided I need to pop the bubbles
then it was like a flood
there was no place that did not have water
then Rob comes in
it is 5:00 am and he is up early to go to work
I do not remember him saying much
but as he leaves the bed and breakfast he calls each of the boys to go help me in the kitchen
so they all wonder down and have their very own comments
any way there are several of us cleaning when the owners finally wake up and join us in the kitchen
they fix us breakfast and we leave
the boys call it waterfall hotel now
it was not funny but the boys cannot event think about it without laughing
I felt bad there was no much damage
don't let anyone tell you, "it's jsut water, it can't hurt"

FIRE !

Although I am a water girl, fire does seem to be my haunting element

First ,there was the small incident when I caught my self on fire. I was babysitting and had planned a fun hot dog roast in the back yard after going swimming. It was taking too long to clean out the weeds so I set out to burn them.
hose- check
gasoline- check
match _ check
I poured the gas out on the dirt and then went to replaced the container before lighting the match. Sadly, it was so hot that the gasoline had evaporated and when I light the match-- KABOOM
I got the hose and the fire was out in minutes but then when I put the water on my legs and the skin fell off, I knew I was in trouble. I went and wrapped myself in a sheet and sat in the cold water bath until my brother came to pick me up for the hospital. I could hear him driving down the road to get me. Because I was wrapped in a sheet he could not see what was wrong and I wanted to go to ST Mark's hospital but he took me to Jordan River. There they cut off my favorite shirt and took care of my burns for 2 days . There were extremely spiritual experiences there but they are too private to write about but I will say this," I did NOT have any burns on parts of my body that were covered by my church garments."
It burned my legs pretty bad ( 3rd degree) ,all the hair on my arms, all the hair on my face and several burns on my arms.
Then , there was the Christmas party coat fire. It was book club Christmas dinner and we are were having dinner at Little America. We were getting ready to leave were exchanging gifts. We could smell smoke but we thought it was in the kitchen. I put on my big coat with the fur on the hood and started to leave when my friend said "your coat is on fire" I guess when I had gotten into the pocket for my gifts that it had brushed against a candle and had been burning away. So right in the middle of Little American lobby I was putting it out.
And last but certainly not the least-- our house fire..But first I want to quote the boys, "mom, we always thought it would be you that set the house on fire-- not dad.

My favorite Travel story-- water

We were on vacation in St George headed over to see yet another historical monument- again. We were just driving down the road when our car was hit by a spray of water from the huge water sprinklers in the field. It scared us. Rob pulled the car over as we were all drenched. I was laughing so hard I had to get out of the car. It was just so weird as we were all drenched and the car had been drenched outside and inside but the windows were all rolled up. After some closed investigation, we figured out that it was me that had drenched everyone in the car. When the water had hit the car, it had scared me and I was holding a drink and had thrown the drink into the air causing the drink to soak everyone. You had to be there.
So it comes as no surprise to the kids that I have another travel water story:
Rob and I were flying to Alaska for our first cruise. It is an extremely long flight and besides being uncomfortable, I was BORED and my ACDC ( attention deficient )was setting in . I had turned around in my chair and had my knees on the seat looking into the back of the plane.
Again, I have small glass of water in my hands. Then the plane hit a air bump and my water left the glass and landed in the crouch of the gentleman behind me who was fast asleep. He woke up immediately and his eyes were the size of serving platter. It was so funny that just thinking about it right now, makes me giggle. I was laughing so hard that I just landed back in my seat. I could not even explain to Rob what was going on. When he finally understood, he turned around and apologized to the guy. Not only did he have to apologize for the water but for the fact that I was laughing my head off and could not even talk to him. I sat in my chair for the rest of the trip.

Favorite Primary Story

I tell this story a lot because it just seems to apply more and more. Our new puppies name is Frodo. I love to name our dogs with names that end in O , so we have had Cleo, Ringo and Rosco. Sadly though, Fordo is called all of them.
So once while teaching my primary class the young girls all claimed they loved me and would remember me forever. It was so sweet but I explained to them that they probably would forget about me and not remember my name but I wanted them to remember that Heavenly Father loved them. They were quick to correct me and promised to never forget me. I had to explain that as a mother, I had problems remembering my own kids names- Matt- Brent- Cam- Colby- who ever you are-- so surely if I do not remember my own kids they would probably not remember me. It has been 15 years and the girls still are my best friends and remember me. I however, do not always get the kids or the dogs name right and now there are issues with the grand kids. It is always a tender moment when Cam quietly reminds me "I'm Cam, mom"

The memories

Yesterday I spent the day helping my uncle clean out my grandma's closet. We had so much fun and found so many treasures and with each treasure come a flood of memories. We found a raggedy Andy doll that has a missing leg that I am going to fix. Greg gave me one of grandma pill box hats and the box it came in. I asked for all her hankies. I brought home a beautiful white shawl, a doilie and one lighter. There were so many pictures and I brought home a few to copy for my family. It was a lot of work and I was exhausted but I was so glad he called to include me.

My grandma

I spent this morning writing this for my uncle
I was honored he asked me
It has been a rough 2 days
but so spiritual
I need to write about it
but this will have to do for now
Geri Evans Gaisford
“My mums”
Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, great great grandmother, Geraldine Evans Gaisford peacefully passed from this world into eternal glory Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Geri was born June 7, 1926 in Jackson County, Missouri to Grace Evans. She was married to George M Gaisford on September 28 1956. George passed away on January 26, 1997.

Geri loved to boat. She was an avid canner, saving every jar and bottle to fill with jams, jellies and preserves which she gave away more than she ever kept. She loved to travel and got to visit many places in her Motor home. But her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. Geri’s son, Greg was her greatest treasure and she adored and dedicated her life to him. There was no sacrifice too small or large that she was not willing to make for him or any of her family members. Her legacy includes four daughters and one son, 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 13 great- great grandchildren. Although her health did not permit her to participate in family events these last years, she was originally the instigator of many fishing trips, dinners, birthday parties and holiday events. She worked full time but every minutes after work was spent with family and friends. She always led a Christ like life consisting of love, acceptance, respect and forgiveness. She took care of friends, neighbors, church members and a few strangers just like they were family. She gave her all and made it look so easy.

A special thanks to Jeffrey Kurrus at St Mark’s hospital and his staff, to the Salt Lake Regional Hospital ICU unit, to Dr Brad Waterman, to Rocky Mt eye institute and to Dixie. The love, warmth and wonderful care we received from these dedicated
Professionals made our journey with Geri so much easier

Geri joins her mother, Grace, Her daughter Kathi and her husband George along with many friends and relatives in Heaven. Their great joy in being with her again matches our great sorrow in losing her here on earth. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. Our family has been blessed by such a devoted daughter of God to lead us and guide on our journey here on Earth. Not only did she teach us but always lead by example. May we always honor her memory by “remembering the good times”.

She leaves many loved family members here on Earth, Son Greg Evans, daughters Patricia (Jim) Craner, Sandy (Barry) Morse, and Suzie (Larry) Fullmer. She will be missed by her posterity of 75 grandchildren, great grand children and great great grandchildren. Although not all of them got to say goodbye, Geri waited patiently for her son to arrive so he could say good bye before she left for her next great travel adventure.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am at Memorial Estates 5850 South 900 East. A viewing will be held on hour before the funeral. Interment will be held after the funeral at Mountain View Memorial Park 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, it would have been Geri’s wish that a tribute gift be made to the Shiner’s hospital at Fairfax Road at Virginia St. Salt Lake City, UT 84103. Our sincere appreciation to those who would like to make this tribute to Geri.

Mums, I was privileged to have such a great mother who taught me so much. I will love and adore you always……Greg

Pictures to come!

Tool up his nose

I was tending Hunter and Ambree and we were having the perfect day. We had lunch, were watching movies for our nap time, had to go my house as the fridge and plumbers were coming. So the kids were running in the yard, playing with the dog and getting out all the toys in the basement. Since there were no treats here we had planned to go to Arctic Circle on our way home. At Arctic Circle there were many friends and the kids were having fun- fun- fun.
We had to head home as we were all ready LATE. Two blocks from thier house I hear Hunter moan. I asked what was wrong and he said he stuck his tool up his nose. We hurried the last two blocks and told Brent who rushed him off to the doctor.
Well here is Hunter and the tool he stuck up his nose!!!
